In an effort to keep you up-to-date on the latest orthodontic techniques, we are hosting a
continuing education course entitled "Early Orthodontic Treatment". This one-hour lecture
and slide show presentation, for dentists, hygienists and dental assistants, reviews the
diagnostic criteria for early orthodontic treatment with the following objectives:
This course has been approved by the Maryland Dental Board for one hour of CE credit.
Registration is free and seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

- To distinguish between early (Phase I) orthodontic treatment and comprehensive
(Phase II) orthodontic treatment; - To discuss the age at which children should be screened for malocclusion;
- To outline the stages of normal dental development;
- To describe the types of malocclusion requiring early intervention;
- To examine the treatment modalities used to correct these types of malocclusions;
- To discuss timing of comprehensive (Phase II) orthodontic treatment;
- To define “leeway space” and discuss the importance of leeway space in the
resolution of crowding; - To allow participants to present questions regarding orthodontic care.
This course has been approved by the Maryland Dental Board for one hour of CE credit.
